God Bless The Queen!

Greetings from the UK!

These last few weeks... erh months really have been a crazy whirlwind of phone calls, moving out of our apartment, getting shifts covered, DPS paperwork, post office runs, getting more shifts covered, finals and defensive driving courses, all so that we can vacation in the beautiful England for SIX GLORIOUS WEEKS!!!! Oh I am so pumped it's ridiculous! We finally made it through the year and sweet sweet summer has arrived! (Even though it may not feel summery because of the cold and and rain).  But even though the weather is not what us Texans would call warm, it is just absolutely beautiful here! Take a look!
Just one of the beautiful views from somewhere up high!

We have had countless adventures and I have walked more than I ever have in my life (and I survey pipelines!) But so far I have to say that England is definitely one of my favorite places! The people are so friendly (not something i was expecting coming from the state of hospitality) and everything is just so absolutely adorable! The entire country is like a huge antique shop! I just love it.

The day after we arrived Joey and I hopped on a train to visit York for our anniversary weekend! That's right, we made it One Whole Year and I still could not be happier or more in love! How could I not be with a husband like this?
Isn't he handsome?
That's him with a Prawn Cocktail, a weird salad they enjoy here with a mayonnaise type dressing. The restaurant was adorable! It was in a tower in the side of a bridge. Everything in the whole town was so beautiful. It was old and all made of stone and so enchanting! Here are some pictures of our weekend! Joey was there I promise he was just the one taking all of the pictures. I swear if he wasn't around I would forget and none of our adventures would be documented!
At the train station
My first English Fish n' Chips!
We took a boat tour before checking in to our Bed and Breakfast slash Pub
A quick bite to eat before our terror trail - apparently York is haunted!
The view from the top of Clifford's Tower
Karaoke Night at the Gillygate Pub
Beautiful York Minster
And I of course had to make a stop at the famous TOPSHOP!
I  picked up these earring on sale for 3 pounds! Yay!

Well I hope you are enjoying England as much as I am! Thanks for reading! I'll try to keep up with updates as our lovely holiday continues!

Cheers!

My Beauty Routine

Hello Loves! I've had some questions about my beauty routine and I decided that although I don't have any secret magic make you beautiful potion, I can share what I do have :) I have recently decided that I really really want to be healthy, inside and out. So I've started (trying) to eat healthy(er) and exercising. But I think that should also include beauty products that don't have a lot of preservatives and chemicals. Think about it, you use this stuff EVERY DAY! All of those bad things like parabens and alcohol sink into your skin and scalp and do damage slowly but surely. So I decided to go natural. Now, I know what you're thinking, that going all natural is totally unreasonable and EXPENSIVE but I have searched high and low and I think I have found some very nice and reasonably priced (rhyming is fun) products that I have been using and I can confidently stand by.  Let's start with the hair shall we?   Now, I am no stranger to hair colori...

Pre-Movie Blogpost

Hello friends :) It is Wednesday and tomorrow my husband takes his citizenship test as he is from England originally. He is a bit ridiculous in that he is only now picking up the 100 question study guide for the test. He will probably still get a 100 on the test simply because he is a genius. So frustrating for us regular folks who actually have to work hard just to seem smart.  I spent my day just hanging around the house cleaning things and working on my new online shop  Here is a link to the etsy and facebook page:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/AgainstTheWindDesign http://www.facebook.com/pages/Against-The-Wind/223030597739114 It seems so official! I have been planning on opening a shop of my own for a while now and it's actually about to happen! I am so excited! I will be selling all handmade jewelry to start out with and I will branch out eventually to hair accessories, scarfs, and at some point I'll start my own line of clothing :) We will see how it goes....

The Waitressing Side of Life

Hello good readers! I have missed you all dearly :) Today I want to talk about something that I feel should be common knowledge but for some reason people don't seem to know: Restaurant Etiquette - With the main focus on how to treat your server As someone who has been a server for all of my young adult life I have declared myself an expert in the matter. Before we get started, let's take a sneak peek into the life of a server. Servers do not get to eat at the normal meal times. Servers make $2.13 an hour in the state of Texas. It varies from state to state but the general idea is that they are employed by the people they are waiting on. Servers do not get free food whenever they want. Servers have to smile constantly for hours at a time. - Regardless of how rude people are. Those are just a few of the things that servers have to deal with on a regular basis.  Now don't get me wrong, I love my job. The people I work with are nice, the food is delicious, and there i...
