Hello Mates! Today I want to highlight the wedding that I recently took part in... as the bride! There were so many details that went into the wedding and the day went by so fast that i simply did not get a chance to share the meaning behind so many things with so many people. So I will do it here! Lets start with the dresses. Yes I wore two different dresses but I had a good reason I promise!
My sister made these beautiful cake toppers. She had so much fun with them and I am glad because I am not nearly patient enough for all of the wonderful meticulous detail that she put into these little guys! Now the beautiful cake that they sat on top of was homemade by the WONDERFUL Sheila Blue who devoted countless hours to making our wedding the beautiful success that it was! Thank you sooo much!
The first dress has an amazing story. Joey and I had been dating for maybe a week, (hardly long enough to be talking about wedding plans) and my mother called me up from a goodwill store. "Tabitha, you have to come here and try on this wedding gown!" A little confused but always willing to play dress up I got in the car and drove to goodwill. When I saw the dress, I knew that it wasn't the one but in order to please my mother I put it on anyways. After it was all zipped up I turned around and looked at myself in the mirror. Rarely does a dress (much less a wedding dress) fit me perfectly. Seriously that never happens. I saw it as a big, poofy, blank canvas. So we bought it. (For a delightful $80 I might add) and I took it home and went to work on it. I added some lace, buttons, made a fabulous belt, and got rid of a huge pile of cheesy sequins and with a lot of help from Bethanne Lechman at http://sewmuchfuntosew.weebly.com/ I came up with this beautiful creation!
The second dress's story is much shorter. It was my mothers. And since my whole wedding was based on a vintage theme, I thought what better way than to wear a vintage dress that has enormous sentimental value! Also if you look closely, you will notice that the lace on the two dresses is very similar, exactly the same in fact. That is because I hemmed the vintage dress and used the lace on the bodice of the gown! Clever huh?
Next I want to tell you about my bouquet. I made it out of all different brooches that I found at garage sales, estate sales, and I may have borrowed one or two... or a few...

Almost everything in our wedding was handmade.
Here are a few details that made the day and preparation really special to us.
These centerpieces took FOREVER but were worth it. They were made by various ladies that my
mom had over for breakfast almost every Saturday of the engagement!
My brother hand stamped each one of these adorable cup holders.
There were about 300 in total so it was a lot of work!
My mother hand drew these postcards for our "save the dates"
A dear friend, Kay Farmer, gave me these glasses before she passed away.
She knew that they would be the perfect glasses to go with the whole theme of our wedding.
She was so right! Thank you Ms. Kay!
